The Neffs Volunteer Fire Company is currently raising funds for their Fire Station Expansion. 

The station expansion will be approximately 2000 square foot with two vehicle bays at the west end of the current engine room and also included replacement of roof shingles and updates to the exterior finishes as they have endured several decades of wear.

 

The Neffs National Bank Board of Directors has provided The Neffs Volunteer Fire Company with a matching donation challenge. The Neffs National Bank will match 25% of private/community donations collected up to $25,000.

Board of Directors honored John J. Remaley as President Emeritus- Neffs Bancorp, Inc. and Chairman of the Board Emeritus- The Neffs National Bank.

On July 20, 2021 Neffs Bancorp, Inc. and The Neffs National Bank Board of Directors honored John J. Remaley as President Emeritus- Neffs Bancorp, Inc. and Chairman of the Board Emeritus- The Neffs National Bank.

Mr. Remaley served as the Neffs Bancorp, Inc. President from 1986 through 2021 and The Neffs NationalBank Chairman of the Board from 2009- 2021. Mr. Remaley currently serves as a Director of Neffs Bancorp, Inc.  and The Neffs National Bank.

 

He was honored as Emeritus for his dedication in promoting Neffs Bancorp, Inc. and The Neffs National Bank on a local, state, and national level as well as his dedication to the community through his participation in many non-profit organizations. The Directorate, employees and shareholders are fortunate to have a dedicated professional  working for the benefit of their organization and thank him for his service and continued dedication.

The Neffs National Bank was awarded the Inspire Award by The Pennsylvania Association of Community Bankers (PACB), at its Annual Inspire
& Lifetime Achievement Awards Gala & Banquet.

On Monday July 19th The Pennsylvania Association of Community Bankers (PACB), held its Annual Inspire & Lifetime Achievement Awards Gala & Banquet at The Hershey Lodge & Convention Center. The Neffs National Bank was awarded the Inspire Award and recognized for the work done in the community to assist business owners with the Paycheck Protection Program. 
 

When the Treasury unveiled the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), The Neffs National Bank was not an active SBA lender, but knew that as a community bank this program would support its customers and the local community. A team effort between departments and headed by the Commercial Lending Team, the PPP program was presented to customers as a way to save their businesses and keep employees on the payroll and supported during the COVID pandemic. While many other banks had complicated application processes The Neffs National Bank was there for customers during this confusing and frustrating time by offering assistance and step by step navigating through the complex program. While COVID presented challenges to face-to-face meetings The Neffs National Bank continued to focus on delivering excellent support and service to customers. Over 370 loans were granted to community businesses. One of these companies was a community pharmacy who used the PPP loan to keep their associates on payroll and a few months later provide much needed COVID vaccines in our community.

John F. Simock of Neffs honored on his retirement from the Board after 25 years of service.  

John F. Simock of Neffs was honored on his retirement from the Board after 25 years of service.  His contributions to the organization and the community were duly noted:

John, a longtime community member of Neffs, was appointed to the Board of Neffs Bancorp, Inc. and the Neffs National Bank in 1996 and elected in 1997.  John served on numerous committees at the both organizations and was instrumental in many of the facility renovation and expansion projects.  His extensive knowledge of construction industry and expertise in running a successful company was well recognized in the Board and by shareholders alike.
 

He established the construction company John F. Simock, Inc. in 1964 and has remained active in the community company. John also established several local housing developments.  He is a member of Association Builders & Contractors Inc. and Lehigh Valley Home Builders Association.
 

For 10 years, John served as Assistant Fire Chief for Neffs Fire Co. He has also been active at the Union United Church of Christ in Neffs where he served as deacon, elder, and consistory member.  John is a lifetime member of Upper Lehigh Lions Club and served as President in 1989. He was presented with the Melvin Jones Fellow Award for dedication and humanitarian service by Lions Club International Foundation. John was also involved with The Boy Scouts of America.

The Neffs National Bank, its employees, and customers are proud to participate in a yearlong dress down day initiative to raise funds for local nonprofits.

Each month a local nonprofit is selected to receive funds raised by employees and customers, the funds raised are then matched by The Neffs National Bank. These organizations were selected for providing invaluable support to our local community and surrounding areas as well as holding personal value and connection to The Neffs National Bank employees.

So far this year almost $5,000 has been raised total to benefit these local organizations:

  • January- Neffs Fire Company

  • February- The Sanctuary at Haafsville

  • March- Bo Tkach Foundation

  • April- Miller Keystone Blood Bank

  • May- Miracle League of the Lehigh Valley

  • June- Delaware and Lehigh National Heritage Corridor

The following organizations will be benefiting from future donations.

  • July- Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America

  • August- Family Promise of the Lehigh Valley

  • September- Operation Troop Appreciation

  • October- Women’s 5k Classic

  • November- Alzheimer’s Lehigh Valley Walk

  • December- United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley

Neffs, Pa- The Neffs National Bank, is proud to present $100,000 in donations to nine local educational foundations. These donations will help fund essential educational programs to benefit the youth of our local community. The selected foundations include Carbon County Community Foundation, Circle of Seasons Foundation, Inc., Commonwealth Charitable Management, Inc. EIO, Lehigh Carbon Community College Foundation, Inc., Northern Lehigh School District Education Foundation, Northwestern Lehigh Educational Foundation, Inc., Parkland School District Education Foundation, Wildlands Conservancy, Inc., and Wildlife Information Center, Inc.

Donations were made through The Neffs National Bank’s participation in the state’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) Program. This program authorizes tax credits for contributions to Educational Improvement Organizations and allows the bank to earmark their taxes to support these programs.

Many of these organizations have adapted their educational programs to virtual platforms amidst the pandemic through the help of EITC donations. Kevin Schmidt, President/CEO The Neffs National Bank noted “these organizations are continuing to face uncertain times with increased budget constraints and the need to reengineer their education programs. I would encourage local businesses to support these organizations either directly or through participation in the EITC program.”

The Neffs National Bank also continues to support its financial literacy program with financial education partner EVERFI, Inc. through the Commonwealth Charitable Management, Inc. donation. The online, interactive financial education resources are sponsored by The Neffs National Bank and are available to area school districts across Lehigh, Carbon and Northampton counties at no cost to the districts. This year local students also have the opportunity to participate in a nationwide Financial Bee and compete for scholarship prizes.
